Claire Thompson

Media Coordinator

What do you do at Gloo? I’m the administrative assistant. I’m a bit of an all-rounder here and help the cogs run smoothly behind the scenes by keeping everyone on track, coordinating media, managing social media, and everything in between!

What are your credentials/experience for working in your position? I have administrative experience both as a manager and as a receptionist. I’ve also always been an organisation freak and this is essential when juggling work, my own business, and general life, so it’s something I love and have grown very competent in.

What do you like about working at Gloo? The team! They are a bunch of lovely, down to earth, and creative people who are supportive and fun.

What are the values that drive you? Compassion, community, and creativity.

What’s your favourite quote? “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But, whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

What are your top 3 favourite podcasts/books? I’m a big self-development gal so some of my favourite books are ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear, and ‘Big Magic’ by Elizabeth Gilbert. I also love listening to Jay Shetty’s podcast ‘On Purpose’.

What are your hobbies and interests? Outside of the office you’ll find me breaking it down in the dance studio or breaking a sweat in the cycle studio. I’m a dancer, teacher and choreographer mainly focusing on hip hop. I teach casual classes at Eternal Performing Arts, run my own workshops, and do choreography for dance crews, musicians, and productions. I also instruct Rhythm Ride classes at Happi Studios – think riding to the beat of fire tunes while doing choreography and sweating it out.

What are your favourite travel destinations? New Zealand and Ireland. I love nature, lovely people, and rich culture, so these places tick all my boxes.

What personal projects are you working on? My friend, Belle Richardson, and myself have a project called soul spice sessions, an online video platform for artists to collaborate, connect, and create meaningful work. We bring dancers, singers, musicians, and videographers together to create videos that push our artists professionally but also create a safe space that they feel valued and respected throughout the whole process. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok at @soulspicesessions.
